Norman Harold Mack Embraced Life on Earth: September 21, 1957 Embraced Life in Heaven: November 25, 2013Norman Harold Mack was born in San Francisco, California on September 21, 1957 to Frank and Marcie Mack. He was their second child and the first of three sons. He was baptized at Cosmopolitan Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Colvin Blanford.Norman attended school in San Francisco and graduated from J Eugene McAteer High School in 1975 (now known as Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, 1982). He had always been a tinkerer and built his own Ham Radio as a teen. He soon became the neighborhood expert on CB Radios as well, with his handle “Disco Kid”, heard across several states.His interests led him to attend Cogswell College to further his education in Electronics, on an academic scholarship. Norman worked for the US Parks and Recreation Dept for over 15 years, as a Radio Dispatcher before obtaining a position with the AAA Radio Dispatcher Group. He continued to work until his health declined and later relocated to Fremont, California.Norman was a huge racing car fan. His love for the sport served as mini-vacations for the family during weekend trips to race tracks through-out California. This hobby resulted in a collection of over 500 cars; from Collectable Hot Wheels to miniature gas powered funny cars. His expansive knowledge of the drivers, cars, tracks and sponsors could keep you entertained for hours.Norman’s gentle spirit made all feel at ease. Although, he grew up with polio he lived life to the fullest. Being the first to drive among his siblings, he used his independence to reach out and stay connected to the world.Norman leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother Marcie L. Mack; his sister Denise Mack Eubanks; two brothers Walter Mack and Alex Mack; his sister-in-law JaNein Rhodes Mack; nephew Pearce Mack and four nieces Alexis Mack, Payton Mack, Marcea Mack and Sierra Howard; two special extended family members, Sue Sandhu and Victor Hill; two Aunts Audrey Mack and Roberta Mack; and many cousins, relatives and dear friends.His Dad, Frank H. Mack preceded him to Heaven.At his request, no services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Norman’s name to a favorite charity of your choice.
