Dr. Normajean Washington-Palmer's Obituary
Dr Normajean Washington-Palmer died at home after a valiant fight with liver cancer surrounded by a loving family and friends. She is survived by her four children, two grandchildren, and two sisters.Dr Normajean grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from McClymonds High School. She earned both a BS in Anthropology & Sociology and an MA in Education from Mills College; an MA in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names College; and a PhD in Educational Counseling from Madison University.An avid runner, nature lover, talker, and student of life, she touched, cared about, and impacted, those who knew her in any capacity in an amazingly positive way. A community activist and volunteer, Dr Normajean was a member of the City of Alameda Police Volunteers program and ran for Alameda City Council.In her final months, she taught us grace and strength, even in the grimmest of times. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.Dr Normajean was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00am.
