Norma Thomas' Obituary
Norma Thomas, 79 entered into rest in her home in Fremont, California on Saturday, March 2, 2002. She was born in Cincinnati, Illinois on February 19, 1923. She has been a resident of Fremont, California for 49 years and an Alameda County resident for a total of 55 years. Norma worked in the Alameda Ship Yard as a Welder during WWII, she worked as a Braiser for Westinghouse for 18 years until she retired and she especially worked hard as a Homemaker for 29 years. Norma was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Paul W. Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clara M. & John T. Smashey. She was also preceded in death by her eight sisters and three brothers, Eva, Catherine, Mildred, Winney, Lorene, Ruth, Neomi, Ester, Buddy, Phillip and Kenneth. She was a devoted mother to two loving daughters, Dorothy Saavedra of Fremont and Lorrine Bell of Sacramento, California. She is also survived by her dear brother, Floyd Smashey of Oregon. She was the proud grandmother of four, Sherry Stacey of Manteca, David Saavedra of Fremont, Renee Eastman of San Bruno and Janeen Bell of San Francisco, California. She also has two precious great-grandchildren, Brad Mast of Manteca and Noah Eastman of San Bruno, California. Norma also has a very special great-great-grandchild, Kiatlyn Mast of Manteca, California.Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Sunday, March 10, 2002 from 5:30 p.m. æ 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home.
