Norma T. Arante's Obituary
Norma Teresita Arante passed away at her home in Livermore, CA on September 13, 2022,
after a courageous battle with cancer.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband Lou Arante. She is survived by her two sons
Joseph (Diane) and Richard (Denise), her five grandchildren, Emily Silveria (Jorden), Laura
Kassam (Jamil), Alexander, Andrew, and Nick, and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Norma was born to Andres and Anselma Poquiz on April 18, 1943 in San Carlos, Pangasinan,
Philippines. She was one of eleven children. She travelled to the United States at the age of 16
where San Francisco became her new home. She met her husband, Lou, at San Francisco City
College, and were married nearly 60 years. Throughout the years, she and Lou lived in San
Francisco, Daly City, Union City, and finally Livermore, CA, where they found their dream home
and lived for nearly 30 years.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Norma had a passion for gardening,
watching SF 49er, Giants and Warrior games, collecting Disney memorabilia, and playing the
slot machines. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, and some of her most popular dishes
were lumpia, pancit, and fried chicken.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Viewing & Catholic Rosary on Wednesday, September
21, 2022 from 4-7pm at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. A funeral will be held on
Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10am at St Anne’s Catholic Church in Union City, CA,
followed by a Catholic burial at Chapel of the Chimes, and a reception at the family home in
Livermore, CA.
