NILO GAPAL's Obituary
In Memory of Our Beloved Nilo Austria Gapal August 16, 1966 – June 18, 2015Nilo A. Gapal, 48, of San Francisco, California passed away on June 18, 2015 at Eden Medical Center with his loved ones by his bedside.Nilo was born in Tarlac, Tarlac Philippines on August 16, 1966. He graduated from Dr. Nicanor Reyes Memorial Colleges High School and went to Baguio Tech University until moving to the United States in 1986.Nilo was married to Elisa Llanza Gapal on October 8, 1989; they were married for more than 25 years.Nilo worked as a Fire Alarm Tech for Siemens in Hayward for about 12 years. He was a very handy person. He always had projects to keep him busy. He enjoyed playing billiard in his garage, woodworking, watching sports, and most specially, helping others. He could never say no or turn away anyone. He got along with every person he met even the most difficult ones. His wife tells me, “When we moved to Hayward, we had a neighbor that had no friends as he couldn’t get along with anybody. Your brother talked to him one time! And they became very good friends. Other neighbors asked how he became friends with him since we just moved in the neighborhood and all I would say is that’s Nilo! And smile…” This and from what I hear from family and friends set him apart from a lot of people as it’s a talent that is hard to come by.Nilo was the “go to” person for everybody whenever they needed help whether be it fixing household things or just by lending an ear or two. Nilo was a man with many talents and loved by everyone. He was also a member of Freemasonry Organization until he became ill in 2008.Nilo is survived by his two children, Nielissa Gapal and Niel-Clarence Gapal, and his devoted wife Elisa Gapal who visited and took care of him every day since he became ill; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Eliseo Gapal; his 3 brothers, Jerry Gapal, twin brother Eric Gapal, Apollo Gapal and his youngest and only sister Jane Gapal; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.Nilo, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle who was taken from his love ones too soon will be remembered in all of our hearts. You will be forever missed but we know now that you are in a better place. We love you, and are reminded, not of the sadness that your passing brings, but of the joy that was brought with your life and presence. This is not good bye, but a simple “see you later”.Do not stand at my grave and weep, For I am not there, as I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on show. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush; I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the soft starlight at night. Do no stand at my grave and cry, As I am not there, I did not die.Created by Jane GapalVisitation and Funeral Service Schedule:Visitations will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Hayward on the following dates and times:Wednesday, June 24, 2015 – 5:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday, June 25, 2015 – 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Masonic Funeral ServiceChapel of the Chimes Hayward 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA 94544 (510) 471-3363The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on June 26, 2015 at St. Clement Church.
