Nick Ramirez Santos, Jr. October 16, 1928 – May 21, 2014 Nick R. Santos, Jr. passed away at home on May 21, 2014 after a brief struggle with gastric cancer and other multiple health issues. He was 85 years old. Nick came from humble beginnings in Pangasinan, Philippines but aspired to become a lawyer. He was the youngest of 6 children born to Nicasio Santos, Sr. and Marcela Ramirez. He loved to read books while watching his family fish ponds . He moved to Manila to attend the Far Eastern University where he joined the ROTC program which allowed him to join the military service. He met and married Isabel Benitez Torio and they had 5 children: Arnaldo, Alicia, Arceli, Armando, and Angelito. He joined the US Navy in 1955 and made the military his career. He retired from the US Navy after 25 years of service. He then worked for the US Postal Service and earned his second retirement as a mail carrier. He dabbled in several business ventures and worked tirelessly to ensure the well- being of his family. He loved to fish but his greatest joy was being with his grandchildren. He also loved planting and growing abundant fruits and vegetables in his back garden and generously shared them with friends. He enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dagupan City Association of Northern California, United Pangasinanes of America, and United Pilipinos of Alameda. He held various offices for these organizations. He will be greatly missed and will remain forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers the family request that you make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project in memory of Nick R. Santos, Jr.
