Nelia Bautista BernardinoJune 23, 1947 – November 29, 2016Nelia Bernardino ascended to Heaven on November 29, 2016, in Vallejo, CA, in the company of her husband, Leo Bernardino, and her daughter, Jodie Mae, and son-in-law, Ryan. Nelia was born on June 23, 1947, in Taytay Rizal, Philippines, the sixth of 9 children to Evaristo and Eusebia Bautista. After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the Centro Esoclar University in Manila, she moved to San Francisco to join many of her family members who had emigrated before her. Once in San Francisco, she enjoyed exploring California with her siblings, cousins, and friends.On June 18, 1977, Nelia married Leo Bernardino in San Francisco, and moved to Vallejo three years later. In 1982, they welcomed their only child, Jodie Mae. Nelia was a dependable coworker, caring wife, and loving, supportive mother. She loved to travel the world, create delicious desserts, chat with new and longtime friends, and follow her beloved Giants, Warriors, and 49ers.A vigil for Nelia will be held on Monday, December 19, at 5:00 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20, at 10:30 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Hayward, followed by placement in to her final resting place at the Chapel of the Chimes.
