Neelam Sharma's Obituary
Neelam Sharma:On December 19, 2015, Neelam Sharma passed away after a five-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her entire family at the time and left with a smile on her face. Neelam Sharma was 60 years old and is survived by her husband, Subhash Chander and her son, Lucky Bhardwaj.Neelam Sharma was born in Gardiwal, Punjab on September 15, 1955. She was the third eldest child of Jagdish Miter and Krishna Devi. Her early childhood years were spent in Nangal, Punjab with her parents, and eight brothers and sisters until they moved to Hoshiarpur, Punjab in 1972.She graduated with a Masters degree in Political Science from Government College in Punjab, India and worked as a teacher till her marriage to Subhash Chander on December 10, 1980.She moved with her husband to Bahrain in 1981, where they resided for the next three years, during which she gave birth to their only son. In 1984, she moved back to India with her son while her husband moved to the United States. She eventually moved to the United States in 1989 and bought a home with her husband in San Jose, California in 1990, where they’ve resided since.She soon came to co-own a business with her husband, and retired in 2008. During her time in San Jose, majority of her extended family also came to reside in the Bay Area. From 2010, when she was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma, to her passing, on December 19, 2015, she, with the help and support of her entire family, fought cancer courageously and without fear.Those who knew her, say she was kind, loving, gentle but most importantly, strong of will and heart. At 4:00AM on December 19, 2015, she met all the members of her family and told them to be strong and live life to the fullest. She did not shed a single tear at the time of her passing and left peacefully and with a smile on her face.She will be dearly missed by all and will remain in our hearts forever.
