Nathaniel Matthew Velasco's Obituary
Nathaniel Matthew Velasco, best known as Nate, was born in Hayward, CA on November 26, 1983 to Nolen Velasco, Sr. and Lilibeth Coleto. His step-father is Walter Mardigras. He was the second oldest child, with an older brother, Nolen Jr., and two younger sisters, Nicolen and Natasha. He’s the 3rd of 14 grandchildren on the Coleto side, and 2nd of 6 grandchildren on the Velasco side. He met Lucy in 2014, got married in 2018, and in those short years together, had a lifetime of laughs and adventures.
Nate had a huge love for bowling and competed in a weekly bowling league with his cousin, Andrew. He loved Bay Area sports (especially the San Francisco Giants) and spending quality time with his friends and family. He loved to travel near and far (he got to cross off Italy and Japan off of his bucket list), play Word scramble games, and eat the best things that life had to offer. His eating preferences are so specific, that it’s made a lasting impression on everyone who’s eaten with Nate (lemon ice cream with blueberry topping, anyone?)
He was known as a kind, mild-mannered, and funny person, who always could respond to a joke with a relatable quip, especially with references from Family Guy. He was extremely dependable and loyal. If you needed someone to drive with you to pick up a car 60 miles away, or meet you in Anaheim for one evening to hang out prior to you running a half marathon, he was your go-to person.
Nate will be sorely missed, but we hope his memory lives on through all of those who love him.
Lucy and our families would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to all who have joined us in honoring Nate’s life. Your travels near and far are not lost on us. The outpour of love and support will never be forgotten.
Bing bong.
