Nathan Lawrence Carter's Obituary
Nathan Lawrence Carter Jr. was born February 16, 1930 to Nathan & Leona Carter in Bastrop, La. Nathan confessed to Christ at an early age and was educated at Sterlington High in Bastrop, La.He moved to California in 1947 and attended SF City College studying law. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Korea where he remained until 1953; where he was injured and honorably discharged.In 1953 he met and married Lydia Lucille (Woodard) and from their union their children Jeanetta (Davenport), Michael, Mark, and Michelle.Nathan worked for General Services Administration, the United States Postal Service, and did furniture upholstery. In 1968 he started Day & Night Janitorial Service and retired in 1999.After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his retirement home in Lake Don Pedro. Nathan loved life; cooking, gardening, building projects, fishing, providing sound advice, being firm; but fair, and he also loved playing black jack at the casino.Nathan was the last surviving brother of 17 siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Lydia, daughters Jeanetta (Bernard), Michelle (Michael), and sons, Michael and Mark (Diedre). Twelve grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 God Daughters, 2 God Sons, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of lifetime friends that became family.
