Nachhatar Singh Khabra's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we mourn the sudden loss of Sardar Nachhatar Singh Khabra (March 31, 1956, Talwandi Fatu, India to February 7, 2022, Hayward, California). Nachhatar came to the United States from India in his late 20s. As an immigrant, he faced many hardships, but he persisted in spite of them. He worked as a bus operator with SamTrans for nearly 20 years and displayed great grit, dedication, and loyalty, waking up at 3 or 4am each day and showing up to work happily. Nachhatar was getting ready to retire next month and was excited to be able to spend more time with his family, whom he adored. He is remembered by his loved ones and community members for his selflessness, generosity, sociability, resiliency, and pride in his culture and his family. He enjoyed going for walks, bird watching, and telling funny stories and jokes. Nachhatar is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sardarni Paramjit Kaur Khabra; his daughters, Gurwant (28) and Navpreet (25); his son, Jaspreet (27); his sisters, Kulwinder Kaur and Kamaljit Kaur; and several nieces and nephews. Nachhatar, you are loved and missed every day.
ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਨਛੱਤਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਬੜਾ (31 ਮਾਰਚ, 1956, ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਫੱਤੂ, ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ 7 ਫਰਵਰੀ, 2022, ਹੇਵਰਡ, ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ) ਦੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ 'ਤੇ ਸੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ ਹਨ । ਨਛੱਤਰ 20 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਆਏ ਸਨ। ਪਰਵਾਸੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਡਟੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਲਗਭਗ 20 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸੈਮਟ੍ਰਾਂਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਬੱਸ ਆਪਰੇਟਰ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ, ਸਮਰਪਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਸਵੇਰੇ 3 ਜਾਂ 4 ਵਜੇ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ । ਨਛੱਤਰ ਅਗਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਸੇਵਾਮੁਕਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਿਤਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਸਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਜ਼ੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਰਸਵਾਰਥਤਾ, ਮਿਲਣਸਾਰਿਤਾ, ਉਦਾਰਤਾ, ਲਚੀਲੇਪਣ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਰ ਕਰਨਾ, ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਜ਼ਾਕੀਆ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੁਟਕਲੇ ਸੁਣਾਉਣਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਸਨ । ਨਛੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ 29 ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਨੀ ਸਰਦਾਰਨੀ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਖਾਬੜਾ ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਗੁਰਵੰਤ (28) ਅਤੇ ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ (25); ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਸਪ੍ਰੀਤ (27); ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੈਣਾਂ, ਕੁਲਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ; ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਭਤੀਜੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਤੀਜੇ ਛੱਡ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਨਛੱਤਰ, ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪਿਆਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
