Murial Jean Ysebaert's Obituary
Murial Jean Ysebaert was born on June 3rd 1944 at First Baptist Church in Bastrop, Louisiana to proud parents Horace Eugene McMillan and Eleather Letshaw Mitchell. As a teenager Jean moved to Oakland California and became a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church led by Pastor, Reverend Herbert Guice.
After graduating from Oakland Technical High School, Jean took classes at UC Berkeley while working for Dr. Bean Palmer. Jean became a candy striper at High Hospital before moving on to pursue her dreams of modeling & singing, she modeled for the Coretta Scott King Modeling Agency in San Francisco. Going by the name of “Jeanie” she became a singer & songwriter, singing R&B & Jazz at Club Morocco’s in San Francisco.
She was very loving and nurturing to all and in 1962 she welcomed her first daughter Sasandra Renee Meguro followed by son Tony Yarborough in 1963. She loved to cook and took pride in teaching her children Renee and Tony how to cook her Louisiana southern cuisine.
On April 2st 1971 She married Winston Yarborough Sr. and gave birth to son Winston Yarborough Jr. and daughter Julia Yaborough. Jean loved taking her children back home to Louisiana to share her southern family values as well as trips to visit her family in Chicago.
She loved taking her family on fishing trips up the Delta to Whiskey Slough, camping at Lake Camanche, and snow filled trips to Lake Tahoe. She loved to shop but her favorite pastime was visiting casinos and gambling with her sister Aretha “Red” Randle and daughter Julia.
Murial Jean will always be remembered for her hospitality and generosity, a true southern belle, she loved and cared for many but most of all she cared about her family and friends. In 1982, Jean's very best friend Olivia Davis was laid to rest, and Jean inherited Davis’s Children as her own and welcomed Tony, Jackie, Dino, Michelle, Pablo and Andre.
Jean proudly joined union ILWU Local 6 and began a career as Longshoreman, she worked at Owens Illinois, Kaiser Aluminum and Retired in 2009 from Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Berkeley Ca In 1988 Jean was married to John YseBaert, together they enjoyed muscle cars, dining out with the family and spoiling their children and grandchildren...
As a retiree Jean enjoyed helping to raise her grandchildren, shopping, visiting casinos and traveling to Hawaii, Cancun and Las Vegas.
She is preceded in death by her parents Horace Eugene McMillan and Eleather Letshaw Mitchell, her sister Connie Ray Coleman, her daughter Sasandra Renee Meguro, her granddaughter Loreal Jayla Renee Willams, her great granddaughters Maniyah Yaborough and Ioney Rose Campbell.
She is survived by her children: Tony Yarborough, Winston Yarborough Julia Yarborough ,her grandchildren: Gregorio Eugene Yarborough Sr., Tia Newman, Rico Yarborough, Amir Muhammad, Najah Muhammad, Joshua Bertrand, Ahsan Muhammad and Trenee Scott, Limouges Isom and Andre Davis Jr., great grandchildren: Julie Yarborough, Jordan Husbands, Mariah Yarborough, Gregorio Eugene Yarborough Jr., God daughter Angel Lawson and a host of family and friends.
