Molly Eloise Vyeda's Obituary
Molly Eloise Vyeda, 83, of Hayward California, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was born in Logan, New Mexico on August 5, 1936 and was the fourth of eight children. Molly attended St. Elizabeth’s Catholic School in Oakland, California for elementary and graduated from Fremont High School, also in Oakland, in 1954. She had the honor of being her Senior Class President.Molly was married to Raymond John Vyeda on July 21, 1956. Her husband of 41 years passed away September 23, 1997. Molly enjoyed a long career as an Instructional Aide helping children with math and reading at Hillside Elementary School in San Leandro, California.During the 1970’s and early 1980’s, Molly was an active member of the St. Joachim’s Women’s Guild and was lucky enough to have made some great friends and had those friendships continue to this day, some almost 50 years. After retiring, Molly did not slow down, she was an instrumental founding member, along with her husband Ray, of the Golden Gate Disneyana Club, which was founded on October 31, 1987. This was a love project of Molly and Ray who were avid Disney fans and collectors. They also enjoyed taking their family on vacations to the various Disney parks. Molly was very fortunate to have visited many of the Disney amusement properties, such as the ones in Anaheim, Florida, Japan, and Paris. She made it a point to experience every ride, there is even a YouTube video of her riding Goofy’s Sky School Coaster in Disney’s California Adventure park, that has over 500,000 views.Again, alongside her husband Ray, Molly assisted in pursuing her husband’s dream of saving The U.S.S. Hornet Aircraft Carrier from the scrapyard, as Ray served on the Hornet during the Korean War. The effort to save the carrier and turn it into a museum started in May of 1995 under the leadership of Captain Tim Dodge, who was the last Commanding Officer of Alameda Naval Air Station. Molly spent many days and nights volunteering 100’s of hours to make this effort a reality. The Hornet was saved and turned into a museum and opened to the public in 1998.Molly had a passion for life and everything it had to offer. She especially enjoyed travelling the world and visited many exotic places, such as; Egypt, Iraq, Turkey, Thailand, Brazil, and many more countries. She loved to go antiquing and seek out yard sales for treasures and collectibles. One of her favorite things to collect was Snow White memorabilia as was evident by her extravagant bedroom decorated from floor to ceiling in Snow White. The greatest achievement for Molly was her family; she would do anything for her family. There is no doubt that Molly was the life of every party and a great hostess. She always thought of others before herself. The heavens will shine a lot brighter now that Molly joins our heavenly father.Molly is survived by her eldest son Tony Vyeda (Josephine), daughter Lisa Promes (Brad), and her youngest son Ricky Vyeda.
