Mohinder Kaur's Obituary
Our beloved Bibi Ji Mohinder Kaur was born on May 20, 1922 in Rawalpindi Pakistan and raised in Lyallpur Punjab, now in Pakistan. Alert and close to her memories until the very end, Mohinder – known to us familiarly as Biji – would sing the nursery rhymes she learned as a child if requested or tell stories about practically every person she ever come in contact with during her childhood in as much detail and fondness as she could about her own children. Despite several harrowing experiences of loss, such as the death of her mentor and loving father during the Pakistan–India Partition in 1947, followed by a prolonged illness and displacement from her home, Biji never lost her compassion, instinctively knowing how to love all and show unconditional love in a way that made one feel as if he or she was the most important person to her. She found her solace and peace through Gurbani and sharing her warmth and love with everyone she possibly could. Toward the end it was apparent that she was ready for the last transition, which came on May 14, 2015 – five days short of her 93rd year in this world. And those who were lucky enough to speak with her during her final days and hours knew how happy she could be. Biji, in her fading movements, expressed her love and blessing to all and was particularly grateful to Baby for 17years of love and care and to Wilma ever since they met. Biji is survived by her son and his family, her daughters Nirmaljeet Grewal and Tawinder Bains and their families and every person who had the opportunity to love her.
