Mildred Emma Heinbuch's Obituary
Mildred Emma Heinbuch Jul. 20, 1916 – Sept. 20, 2011 Resident of San Lorenzo, CA Mildred Emma (Glasshoff) Heinbuch, born July 20, 1916, in Millard, Nebraska, passed on to heaven peacefully in her home on September 20, 2011. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday with her loving family in July. She treasured her marriage of nearly 60 years to her soul mate, Kenneth (Ken) Heinbuch, who preceded her in death. During WWII, Mildred worked in Omaha as a “Rosie the Riveter” while Ken was piloting a B-24 in Europe. After the war, they moved to the Bay Area with their daughter in 1947. They settled in San Lorenzo in 1955. Mildred was a loving housewife and very supportive mother. In 1961 Mildred and Ken became the owners of Arroyo Variety and Hardware, which they tirelessly operated for over 25 years, first in San Lorenzo, then in San Leandro. In addition, Mildred gardened with a passion, was known in her neighborhood for her cookies, made the yummiest soups and adored her two grandsons. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Heinbuch) Jackson, son-in-law Owen, whom she loved as a true son, grandsons Ryan (Amy) and Evan Jackson, and nieces and nephews. The family thanks Olivia Bradfield and Sharon Wright, her faithful caregivers, and Vitas Hospice for making her last months comfortable. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association , the Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice. A celebration of Mildred’s life will take place at a later date.
