Mildred Morales Galano's Obituary
Mildred Morales Galano, 85, of Fremont, California, passed away on November 25, 2023.
Mildred was born in Santa Cruz Marinduque, Philippines on August 1, 1938, to Tiburcio Pastorfide Morales and Esperanza Tomandong Agbuya. She graduated with a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Physical Education from Philippine Normal College in 1960. Following graduation, she worked as a school teacher in Quezon City. She was a member of the Barangay Dance Troupe of Philippine Normal College and the GSIS Dance Group of Manila, performing throughout the Philippines and internationally.
Mildred emigrated to the United States in 1968 and worked as an insurance claims examiner for 16 years. She married Robert Galano in San Francisco in 1970. Mildred continued to dance, performing Filipino folk dances and hula all around the San Francisco Bay Area. She was very active in the local senior community and Catholic parish. Mildred enjoyed travelling, tending to her garden, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her children Reginald (Sheri) and Reena (Brian) Thomas; grandchildren, Riley, Joel and Evan; siblings, Glenda (Bert), Oliver (Tetchot), Tiburcio Jr (Concha), Ruby (Carlos) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her father, Tiburcio, Sr., her mother, Esperanza, brothers Mariano and Dante
