Michael Cortez's Obituary
Michael S. Cortez June 24, 1949 – Aug. 11, 2009 Resident of Hayward Beloved husband of Dolores Merza-Cortez and devoted father of Jesse, Cisco and JC Cortez. Michael was the son of Jennie Cortez and the late Nemecio Cortez Sr. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Ault, brother Nemecio “Jr.” Cortez, eight nieces and nephews, as well as ten great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Delgado and brother Gregory Cortez. Mike was devoted to his family and brought great humor and joy to their lives with his playful spirit. He was born in Oakland CA, graduated from Castlemont High School, went on to serve in the U.S. Army and returned to Hayward to raise his three sons. Mike had a passion for trucks and worked in the industry as a truck driver for over 20 years. Mike enjoyed fishing, working on muscle cars, and eating Caesar’s Chicken and apple pie!
