Maxine C. Tornquist's Obituary
Oct 30, 1916 – Oct 24, 2008 A beautiful and gentle soul has left this world to be with God and her family that went before her. Maxine, a resident of San Leandro for 91 years, passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 after a brief illness. She did not make her goal of living to 100 years, but Maxine led a joyous and fulfilling life. Maxine was predeceased by her father Alfred, her mother Blanche, and her brother Chester Moss. Although she never married or had children of her own, Maxine had many people and pets whom she considered her family. For over 30 years, Maxine was another grandmother to us, and our family gatherings won’t be the same without her. She leaves behind her dear “family” members, Albert McHan, Lorraine Mayer, James, Kathy & Ryann Eastman, Kelly McHan and Robert Krueger, Edwin, Melody, Troy & Travis Round, Holly Harland and Steve Harland. Among Maxine’s many loves, was her passion for gardening, classical music, doing artwork, especially drawing and coloring, and watching “Dancing with the Stars”. She loved spending time at home with her dog Chet, pressing flowers & making cards. She was content enjoying a good cup of tea & reminiscing about the old days. She was a member of the Eden Garden Club for over 50 years, and was a member of Ladies of the Moose Club for many years. Her favorite saying was from a book title ” All this and Heaven too!”. She was always grateful for what she had and everyone she met would say how sweet she was because she was so agreeable. She will be missed by all. A celebration of her life and graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 30th, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Any and all friends are invited to attend.
