Those of us who knew Maxine felt welcome the moment her smile met ours. She had a gentle way of turning everyday moments into small joys for everyone around her.
Born in Illinois on September 23rd, 1948, Maxine carried the steady warmth of the Midwest wherever she went. Friends often said her roots showed in the easy manner she offered help before anyone even asked.
Kind, supportive, and generous, she never kept her care to herself. A quick visit could turn into a listening ear, a bit of good advice, or a plate of something homemade—each gesture leaving us lighter than before.
Maxine’s journey ended in Hayward, California on August 12th, 2025. Though the distance between Illinois and California spans miles, her kindness filled the space in between and stays with us.
We will carry her example forward in the way we treat one another. Thank you, Maxine, for showing us how simple acts of generosity can last a lifetime.
