MATTIE LEIGH (KILGORE) PIGEONSunrise: December 6, 1926 Sunset: February 22, 2017At the age of 90 years Mattie went home to be with her Lord and Savior.Mattie was a native of Texas. She graduated from Redwater High School in 1944. Immediately after graduation she began her long banking career. She moved to Oakland, Ca in 1945 to be with her family. She continued her banking career with Central Bank, retiring from First Interstate Bank in January of 1985.Shortly after moving to California she met the love of her life, Reuben Pigeon. They were married June 22, 1948. They had many happy years together. Reuben passed away on their 59th wedding anniversary, June 22, 2007.Mattie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Rueben, parents Hattie and Leon Kilgore, her sister Elouise Wedman, and her brother Horace (Tiny) Kilgore. She is survived by her sister Delia Fay (Garcia) Winn . Mattie is survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved with all her heart. She also leaves behind many friends and a cherished family at First Presbyterian Church of Newark.A memorial service celebrating Mattie’s life will be held on March 25, 2017 at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church of Newark, CA. Fellowship follows.
