Mary I. Torres' Obituary
Mary I Torres passed away peacefully on Saturday September 30, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.Mary Torres was born on April 20 1928 in San Antonio Texas to her parents Juanita and Apollonio Cardenas. She graduated from the Lanier High School where she was head cheerleader and participated in baseball and volleyball. In 1950 she wed Emilio D. Torres who was also from San Antonio. The Torres’s lived in San Antonio where Mary worked as a sales person at Leeds department store. Together Mary and her husband had and raise six children.In 1967 the Torres family moved to Union City California where Emilio went to work for the Teamsters and she worked for the New Haven Unified school district as yard duty personnel. Mary then went to work for the Sisters of the Holy Family in Fremont California where she did housekeeping and was head housekeeper.Mrs. Torres is survived by her husband of 67 yrs. Emilio Torres, daughter Mary Jane Hancock and son-in-law Robert Hancock of Livermore CA, son Reynaldo Torres of Tracy Ca, Yolanda Castle and son-in-law Mark Castle of Paso Robles CA, son George Torres and daughter-in-law Chung Suk Torres of Layton UT, daughter Angie Drexel and son-in-law Gary Drexel of Fremont Ca, and Norma Cody and son-in-law Darrick Cody of Phoenix AZ. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.Mrs. Torres will be buried in a private ceremony on October 10th 2017. A private memorial will take place on October 9th 2017 at Chapel of the Chimes of Hayward.
