Mary Margaret Sims' Obituary
Mary Margaret Sims, 97, passed away at home on August 27th, 2023. A long time
resident of Fremont, California she is proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 61
years Clifford L Sims Jr, her sons Stephen and Gregory Sims, her sister Virginia Testorff,
and her first born grandchild DeAnn DeSoto. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia
Martin and Cheryl Christiansen along with 10 grand kids, 16 great grand kids and 11
great great grand kids. She is also survived by her sister Betty Ann Sears of Kansas City
Missouri, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was devoted to her family and country being a navy wife of 22 years and raising 4
kids. Mary M had a sincere love for other people and she shared her time and heart with
them and volunteering was a passion. Red Cross, Hospice, Life Elder Care, Veteran
Organizations all were blessed by her caring. She drove for Fremont Meals on Wheels
for over 30 years until age 92. She was lovingly referred to as “the cookie lady” because
she made wonderful homemade cookies to share with the other Meals on Wheels
volunteers as well as all the other places she volunteered at.
She was a lover of books, an amazing and talented crafter. She was a bird lover,
collector of antiques and flowers made her happy. She never wanted to quit or stop and
to keep going was her motto. She was a woman of strong character, small but mighty
and she always had a smile to share. She is already missed by so many.
