Mary Edith Rice's Obituary
Mary Edith Rice passed away on August 23, 2018 at the age of 87. Mary lived a full life, frequently surrounded by friends and family.She was born in Orange Grove, Texas on February 8, 1931. After spending her childhood on a farm in Orange Grove, the family moved to California. While working as a key punch operator in San Francisco, she met her future husband, Armin O. Rice, during a ballroom dance at the age of 18. They married in 1951 and had four wonderful children.Several years later, she joined the Cloverleaf Senior Bowling League and was a proud member for over twenty years. During this time, she created lasting friendships while striving to obtain that perfect 300 point game.Mary was a strong, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.She is survived by her children, Armin A., Janet, Craig and David; six grandchildren, Michele, Christina, Shea, Justin, Danielle, and Rachel; her sisters, Ann and Jean and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin O.; 2 sisters, Betty and Georgia; grandson, Charles; and beloved friends.Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA at 1:00pm on Sept. 1, 2018.
