MARY NIETO's Obituary
MARY HERNANDEZ NIETO 89 Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Hernandez Nieto, passed away on May 15. Born December 2, 1924 in Fillmore, California, the youngest of six children, she grew up in Santa Paula, and settled in Hayward with her husband, Genaro Nieto, to whom she was married for 57 years until his passing in 2002. There she worked for Hunt’s cannery for 30 years, and they raised their two children, Ruben and Becky. She was a wonderful mother, and she and dad taught us many lessons by their example of hard work and sacrifice so that their children could have a happy and fulfilling life. Mary is survived by her children, Becky Douros of Fremont, CA and Ruben Nieto of Issaquah, Washington, son-in-law Jim Douros, daughter-in-law Bobbie Olin, her two beloved grandchildren, Dawn Douros, of Salem, Oregon and Lindsey Douros, of Santa Rosa, CA, and her many nieces and nephews and her special friend and companion Lisa Prentice. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 22 from 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM and Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23 beginning at 10:00 AM (the Chapel opens at 9:00 AM) at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
