Mary Muramatsu's Obituary
Mary Muramatsu June 5, 1914 – March 28, 2009 Resident of Livermore God has called Mary home on Saturday, March 28, 2009. She is joyfully reunited with George, her husband of 60 years. Mary was born on June 5, 1914 in Berkeley, Ca. She was the oldest of seven children. She lived in Castro Valley until the age of 16 when her family moved to San Leandro. She graduated from Castlemont High School in 1933. She married her husband, George Muramatsu, on September 17, 1939. They owned Mura Products, a world-wide slot car motor business and Mura Nursery which they sold to their son-in-law, Hiroshi in 1969. Upon selling the nursery, Mary and George moved back to Castro Valley. After her beloved husband was called through the gates of heaven, she moved to Livermore where she peace-fully lived her last four years with her daughter, Dianne and son-in-law, Hiro. She enjoyed the beauty of flowers and birds. Her other favorite pastimes were enjoying her great grand-children’s activities, reading, knitting and looking out at the beautiful scenery of the valley. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dianne Fukushima; son, Ron Mura; two of her siblings, Ruth Hara of Seattle and William Naruo of Castro Valley; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. We will greatly miss her beautiful smile and gentle ways. Although she was petite, she had the biggest heart and was one of the strongest women we know. Be at peace beautiful Mary. We love you forever. Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary Mura to Hospice of the East Bay; 3470 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hill, Ca. 94523.
