Mary Elizabeth Stamps Resident of Oakland Sept. 4. 1921 – Feb. 8, 2016Mary Elizabeth Stamps Mouton passed away on Monday, February 8th after living a fulfilling and complete life of 94 years by serving God and touching many lives through her caring spirit, infectious smile and positive outlook on life.Mary was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from McDonough 35 High School and from the Licensed Vocational Nursing School to begin her successful career which spanned over 30 years of working in multiple hospitals including Highland Hospital and San Leandro Memorial Hospital. In her semi-retirement years, Mary’s desire to provide comfort to the sick lead her to become an in-home nurse to elderly patients.Mary was a dedicated member of Pilgrim Temple Church in Hayward since October 1955. She was an active member of The East Oakland Senior Center by participating in exercise classes, gospel choir and she attended various outings.Mary is survived by her devoted daughter, Walterine M. Campbell of Oakland and granddaughter, Denise Campbell Smith (Tilmon) of Fulton, MD, and great-grandchildren, Marissa and Jason Smith of Fulton, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward G. and Mary I. Stamps and her daughter, Valerie D. Brown. She is now resting in the arms of God. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who she touched. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 from 1-9 p.m. and a funeral service on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel of The Chimes Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd. Interment to follow service.
