Mary Louise Greer's Obituary
Mary Louise Greer, daughter of the late Royal and Rebecca Anderson was born Tuesday, September 17, 1940 in Beaumont Texas. Mary was the youngest daughter of five siblings, Rebecca, Johnnie Mae, brothers Rodney and Edward. She attended Beaumont Charlton Pollard high school where she graduated in 1957. Shortly after graduation, she met and married Henry Carry Booz’e. From this union she had three children Deborah Lynn, Henry Carry Jr., and Glenn Edward. Mary and Henry were later divorced, and she chose to begin a new life with her children.
In 1962, Mary relocated with her children to Oakland California. She became employed at a Bay Area hospital where she worked as a nurse assistant. Mary worked there for several years before becoming employed as a teller at First Interstate Bank. After 25 years of service, she chose to retire. In 1970, Mary’s life changed when she married her best friend and life partner Sam Greer Sr. Through their union, they became a blended family, with Sam’s additional 5 children: Elizabeth, Dorathy, Sandi, Sammie, and Sam Jr. and grandson Roderick. The Greer family then relocated to Hayward, California where they continued to reside, enjoying life together.
Mary and Sam where both active members of Greater Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church (in Oakland), where they served as Deacon and Deaconess for the church. When they weren’t involved in their ministry at the church, they both enjoyed traveling the world on extended cruises. In addition to her world travels, Mary loved music and singing. Her favorite artists were Al Green and Diana Ross. She was also a wonderful homemaker who loved cooking and sharing with others.
Mary was a woman of courage and strength with a “heart of gold.” She peacefully departed this life on December 29, 2019. She was preceded in death by her sister’s Rebecca, Johnnie Mae, brother Rodney and daughter Deborah. Her legacy will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Sam; her children Henry Jr., Glenn, her daughter’s Elizabeth, Dorathy, Sandi, Sammie, and son Sam Jr. Her granddaughters Paris Patrick, Bianca Smith, Tiffany Booz’e, and grandson’s Roderick Richardson and Cameron Booz’e; her great grandchildren Leila and Leonard Jr., and a host of other loving relatives and friends
