Mary Lois Burkett-Dugan's Obituary
MARY LOIS BURKETT-DUGAN October 15, 1925 – February 17, 2008 Mary is survived by her loving husband Don Dugan, happily married for 23 years. Also survived by her sister Marjorie Teeters of Iowa, her children Nancy and Rich Harry, Douglas Burkett, Sherri Sheehan, Linda and Jeff Stone, Don Dugan, David Dugan, Cindy Dugan and her grandchildren Candis Sheehan, Stacey Sheehan, Sgt. David Boreliz, Nicole Stone and Scott Stone. Mary was born in Carrol, Iowa, in 1925 and moved to Oakland in 1945 where she went to work for Montgomery Wards for 45 years. She was a department manager at the Bayfair store and an assistant manager at the Alvarado store. Mary also found time for community service as President of the PTA at Hesperian Elementary School, Edendale Jr. High and San Lorenzo High School and the Parent-Principal Council. Mary loved bowling and was still bowling at Manor Bowl at the age of 82. Mary and Don loved to travel and drove from the west coast to the east coast enjoying every state they traveled through. Mary loved their many trips to Reno and she and Don spent every wedding anniversary at Harrah’s Reno. She loved all baby animals. Mary also loved sports-especially football and college basketball. She played basketball in high school and was always telling Don how good she was. She also loved horses-especially horse racing. She was also a collector of angels. Her family says now God has another Angel. Visitation for Mary will be held Monday, February 25, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward. A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, February 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Reflection Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes. Internment will be on February 29 at 11:00 a.m.
