Mary "Elaine" Baker's Obituary
On August 20, 2016 in Reno, NV, our beautiful, loving mother Mary “Elaine” Baker was taken from our loving arms and into the arms of God. She was born August 2, 1920 in Oakland, CA to James Monroe Pye and Nora Alice (Bethel) Pye.Our mother loved life, family and friends. She enjoyed walking around Lake Elizabeth, where she met many of her dearest friends. She loved to laugh, had a beautiful smile, great personality and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was kind, caring and always putting others above herself.Preceded in death by her loving husband, Frederick Baker, parents James and Nora Pye, son-in-law Warren Pilcher, grandson Thomas Pilcher and granddaughter Diana Pilcher.She is survived by her loving, caring daughters; Deanna “Debbie” Pilcher and Sharon Gallego (Marvin), grandchildren; Michael Pilcher (Keli), David Pilcher, Gary Swarz (Mary), Debra Mahan (Greg), great-grandchildren; Amanda, Justin, Kaylee, Antonio, Vincent, Kara, Steven and Karli, and great-great-grandson Jackson Thomas. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Marvell Viviani (Little Sister), brothers; James and Robert Pye and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.Our heartfelt thanks go out to Lisa and her staff at Stone Valley Memory Care for their wonderful care and devotion to the residents. Thanks also to Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care, and to Dr. William Craig for his compassionate medical care, and for always putting a smile on our mother’s face.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24th at 1:00 pm at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street, Reno.Funeral services and entombment will take place at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park in Hayward, CA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Nevada, 1301 Cordone Ave., Suite 180, Reno, NV 89052Published in the Reno Gazette – Journal on Aug. 24, 2016You can only have one mother, patient kind and true; no other friend in all the world, will be the same to you.When other friends forsake you, to mother you will return; for all her loving kindness, she asks nothing in return.As we look upon her picture, sweet memories we recall; Of a face so full of sunshine, and a smile for one and all.Sweet Jesus, take this message, to our dear mother up above; Tell her how we miss her, and give her all our love.
