Mary Ann Anderson's Obituary
Mary Ann Anderson was a devoted wife and mother who absolutely loved her family and friends. She always had a positive outlook on life, even when things were hard. Mary Ann was loving and supportive, and she kept her family and friends laughing. More than anything she has always loved the children in her family – she spent her early years with younger cousins (Carlton and Keith) and niece (Tracy) allowing them to tag along with her everywhere, and teaching them life’s lessons. She adored her four daughters, Kim, Kelly, Kitty, and Katrina, and when her son Jimmy was born, he became the light of her life. She loved her children and especially loved sharing her family’s accomplishments.Mary Ann was born September 23, 1944 in Jackson Mississippi to Willie and Ethel Green. She moved with her family to the Bay Area when she was less than a year old. The family initially settled in Richmond where she attended Stege Elementary School. They later moved to Berkeley where she attended Berkeley High. Mary Ann always knew that education was important. She attended Contra Costa College, receiving her Associates Degree in Medical Billing. She worked at Alta Bates Hospital for 25 years as a Billing Clerk.Mary Ann and James married in Reno Nevada in 1989. They spent a lifetime traveling the world. They vacationed in 49 States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe, and drove across the country 31 times.Mary Ann has always been a spiritual woman – she was baptized at an early age at St John’s Catholic Church in El Cerrito and later attended St. Columba in Oakland California. Even when she wasn’t able to attend church personally, she always found time to read her bible every day!Mary Ann loved to read, travel, shop on Amazon and talk or text to her family and friends. She was a huge sports fan, especially of the Warriors and Oakland Raiders. Since an early age, she had a love of music and dance, especially tap. Her favorite song was Usher’s “You are on my mind”. Mary Ann was so thoughtful, even surprising people with little items that she found on Amazon that she knew they would appreciate.Maryann leaves to mourn her husband, James Anderson, son James Anderson Jr., daughters, Kimberly Terrell, Kelly Rhone (husband Samuel Rhone) and Kitty Johnson (husband Rev. Sheldon Johnson), 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, Verelene Gates (sister), Willie Greene Jr., (brother) a host of Aunts, Uncles, in-laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, two special friends, Sheila Wright and Willie Fred Johnson and 2 Godchildren Ayana Pinkney and Avery Pinkney.Maryann was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ethel Green, Annie Lois James (sister), Lillian Greene (sister), and one daughter, Katrina Seymore.She will always be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and friend
