Marvin J. Carash's Obituary
Marvin died on December 11, after a ten year struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his wife Mary (Offutt) Carash, son David Carash, daughter Valerie Avendano (son-in-law Bill), granddaughter Grace Avendano, sister Karen Young (brother-in-law John), and sister Marcy Robinson (brother-in-law Greg). He is predeceased by his parents, Fred Carash and Florence (Lippow) Carash. Born in Oakland, Marvin was raised in Marysville and Yuba City. He graduated from Sacramento State University in 1964. Marvin worked in City Planning for 30 years in Hayward. In 1964, Marvin met Mary in the San Francisco bus station, and they were married in 1966.Marvin played the drums in bands in his youth, and loved the music of the 1960’s his entire life. He had many interests, including politics, movies and sports, and was an avid reader. He was a huge fan of the San Francisco Giants. Above all, Marvin loved traveling. He planned vacations for the family, but also each year, he and Mary took a trip, traveling the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and South America. Although ill, he was able to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary in Monterey.Marvin was devoted to his family, his friends, and his dogs.He will be remembered for his intelligence, his good sense, and his love of life.He will be missed.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA.org).
