David Dalton
I recall him above all of the teachers I had at SLHS. I was a typical teen jock idiot that didn’t care much about Algebra and I didn’t do very well in his class, but he took me aside once and said that some day mathematics would mean something to me when I was ready to learn…he had faith in me. He came to many of my games and I would see him in the audience. He told me his own story as a baseball player and said that I shouldn’t be too concerned about the “D” I had earned in his class that semester. I recall this as well as any memory of those times. He was right and I have proven his prophecy accurate in the years since. I was very sad to learn of his passing but I am grateful to have known him and for his belief in me. Rest in Peace Marty…Thank you! DD
