Marpil DeGuzman AganonResident of FremontAug. 30, 1941 ' Jan. 14, 2012Marpil Aganon passed away early Saturday morning after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Friends and family alike were touched by his kind personality and joyful spirit.Marpil was born in the small town of Pura, Tarlac in the Philippines. He moved to the United States in 1975, where he was able to fulfill his American Dream: a home, a family, friends, and happiness. He spent more than 25 years working at Mervyn's as a warehouse operator before retiring in 2006. His faith in Catholicism led him to dedicate his beliefs in parishes such as St. Clements and St. Josephs. He enjoyed taking long walks, playing poker with friends and family, and watching sports from boxing to football.Marpil is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla; devoted children Christine, Maureen, John Paul, and his granddaughter, Kalina. He is also survived by his sisters: Lucretia, Annie, Zenaida, Auring, and Nora in the Philippines.Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 from 5-9pm at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery in Hayward. The funeral service will be held at St. Josephs Church in Fremont on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 from 11am-12pm. Upon completion of the service, the burial will be concluded at Chapel of the Chimes.
