Dear friends and family: it is with deep sorrow we inform you of our dad’s passing. Mark Tayo, Jr. 81, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019. He died peacefully in the comfort of his home.Mark Tayo, Jr. left his home country, Philippines, as a successful civil engineer and migrated to San Francisco in 1971 with his beloved wife Tina Tayo (RIP) of 50+ years and their three children, Vera, Jojo and Jeannette. They later settled in Union City where he opened and operated a small grocery store for 25+ years.Mark Tayo, Jr. and wife Tina were active community leaders. They co-founded Santo. Nino de Cebu organization under Cardinal Rosales of the Philippines. The organization’s key mission is to support the seminary school in Cebu. Mark had a passion to serve the Filipino community. He ran as a councilman for Union city, he was the President of the Lion’s club and had served as the President of Santo Nino for several years. He also served as Board member on several Filipino organizations. We will celebrate his life on Thursday, May 23rd at 6pm at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, with a short Vigil. His funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 24th at St. Bede Catholic Church, (26950 Patrick Ave., Hayward, CA 94544) at 10:45am followed by final burial at Chapel of the Chimes cemetery. We welcome friends and family to join us for our last remembrance of our dad.
