Marjorie Mae Schmidt's Obituary

Her father passed away when she was four. Her mother was deaf and mute, so the family had financial and personal challenges. As a preteen, Marge and her mother began attending a church near their home where she accepted Christ as her Savior. She graduated from Fremont High School, Oakland, CA, in January, 1945. While World War 2 was happening, she worked in a clerical position at a military base in Oakland.
Marge loved horses and once belonged to a riding club. She was a gifted artist who taught oil painting classes in her home and also did sketching and sculpturing. She taught Sunday School for many years and interpreted for the deaf in church services. She was proficient in sewing and knitting. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Every year she would can vegetables from her garden. She learned to play the violin as an adult and participated in an orchestra at Chabot College.
Marge was preceded in death by husbands Tony Silva and Reginald Schmidt; sons, Dale Silva, Michael Silva; brother, Donald McKeever and great grandson Tyler Silva. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Knapp; son, Daniel Schmidt; grandchildren, Kelly Sprinkles, John Silva, Jim Silva, Kristie Williams, Connie Tillis, Timothy Schmidt and many great grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her faithfulness in prayer, love for Christ, many stories, advice, and love for family. She was always eager to share her faith with others.
The family wishes to thank the pastor and people of Heritage Baptist Church for their care for Marge.
Interment will be at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA on June 12, 2021.
