Marion E. Duane's Obituary
Marion Estella Little Duane was born May 6, 1920 in Mankato, MN. She passed away at Eden Hospital , in Castro Valley, CA on October 9, 2003 after a short illness. Memorial service is at 11:00 am Tuesday October 14, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church in Castro Valley. At her request, No viewing will be held and aPrivate internment at Skylawn Cemetery in Half Moon Bay will have taken place earlier. Marion was married for 62 years and is survived by her husband retired Army Col R.S. "Steve" Duane. She is also survived by her three sons, Richard S. Duane and his wife Donna of Novi, MI,Patrick and his wife Cindy and James and his wife Cindy of Castro Valley. She had 10 grandchildren, Kendra, Kaylin, Richelle, Leslie, Britney, Christopher, Ryan and Jeffrey, Jason and Michelle. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mayme Little Cooke andher brother James Little both of Minnesota.Marion's greatest joy was her husband and family. As the matriarch of the family, she was always planning family events, including camping and holidays and a great love of music.When her sons were at Laurel Elementary School she joined the PTA and met for the past fifty years with the same group of mothers. She also was active in the First Presbyterian church women's club as well as the 60 plus Club of Transfiguration Catholic Church, where her husband was a member, A priest once told Marion, She was "The best Presbyterian Catholic he had everMet!" This always tickled her.Marion's working career included the Party Room which planned and catered special events. Marion and Steve worked together at FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). In all her encounters - whether social or employment , she made friends and kept them throughout her lifetime. Marions' family asks that any donations be made to the American Lung Association in her Memory.
