Mario Martin's Obituary
Mario Martin was a life-long resident of Northern California, and was especially fond of the Niles area. He was proud to call the Bay Area his home for 62 years. Mario was happiest when spending time in the company of his family, and time he spent surrounded by their love brought Mario his greatest joy.Throughout his life, Mario embodied the true spirit of being a native Californian and was quick to make friends wherever he went. Using his wonderful sense of humor, he always managed to put a smile on your face. Not only was he recognized as being a funny guy but he had a great personality and was someone with whom everyone enjoyed spending time. He could lift your spirits with a gentle word, a delightful turn of phrase or a knowing glance. To know Mario was to love him, and he made friends wherever he went.Among those who knew him best, Mario will always be remembered for having a big heart and kindhearted nature. He would never hesitate to lend a hand and would willingly give you the shirt from his back. There wasn’t anything Mario wouldn’t do to help his fellow man. If he considered you his friend – you were his friend for life. His legacy of kindness, compassion and generosity will long be rememberedMario enjoyed a fulfilling career with Sandia Labs from which he reluctantly stepped down due to health concerns. Not being one to let his disability keep a good man down, Mario once again found enjoyment through many years of working at the Masonic Home. He was especially happy to be working there, and made many friends while in their employ.Preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother, Larry, Mario will be forever missed by his loving family, including his sister, Gloria, brothers Robert, David and Mark, and their families, as well as other relatives and a countless number of friends.The family invites you to join them as Mario is lovingly remembered during a Memorial Service in his honor on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Reflection Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA.
