Marilyn Faustino Garcia's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpectedly sudden passing of Marilyn “Lynn” Garcia in the early morning of April 5, 2026. A devoted mother, grandmother, and wife of 54 years, Marilyn radiated joy, compassion, and wisdom to everyone that knew her.
Born to Lilia and Perfecto “Peck” Faustino in the Philippines on March 11, 1950, Marilyn (named after Marilyn Monroe) was the third of 7 siblings, Ray, Roger, Norman, Teresita, Jennifer, and Susan, all of whom she remained close with. After working as a journalist covering the late 1960’s with a degree from University of Santo Thomas, she met the love of her life, Eduardo “Eddy” Garcia, in 1971. They built a family in Manila and had four children, Catherine, Enrico, Alexander, and Kristina, whom she all raised with unconditional love and generosity.
In 1993, she immigrated her family to America, an immensely courageous feat that defined both her formidable strength and the next chapter in their lives. Marilyn had a long career as a medical records clerk while also helping to watch and raise her 5 grandchildren in their first home in Newark, California. After retiring and moving to Mountain House, California, Marilyn continued a rich and exciting life with her family, traveling to her favorite cities of Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington D.C. and even New York for weddings, graduations, and vacations.
Marilyn gave tenderness and thoughtfulness to everything she touched, from her rose garden, to her many keepsakes collected from her travels. She was a devoted Catholic, had worldly knowledge for geography, and an affinity for cooking shows and any lemon-flavored or butter pecan desserts. She held a passion for history and greatly admired John F. Kennedy. She always had a cheerful attitude, an open mind, a quick sense of humor, and cherished playing video or board games with her grandchildren (often even winning). Marilyn was always involved, always present, and did everything with positivity and gentleness. More words to describe Marilyn are outspoken, unstoppable, and confident, while also being patient, forgiving, and unbelievably kind.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Eddy (who lovingly calls her “Cho”), her four children, five grandchildren: Kyrie, Edrick John (EJ), Eden Mikaela, Kristian Tyler, and Kaylin Hope, and two pets: Pogi and Kipper. Her sisters Teresita “Doris,” Jennifer, and Susan will miss her, while she will reunite and rest easy with her parents and brothers, Ray, Roger, and Norman.
Her children are eternally grateful for raising them with strong values and always prioritizing their wellbeing, whether being there for their important milestones, or just with trips to her favorite grocery stores. Her grandchildren will miss her unmistakable laughs during games and all of their inside jokes. She will be missed dearly as the committed glue of the family, and her bubbly personality, catchphrases, and endless love will be embodied and uplifted through everyone.
