Marie A. Simbra's Obituary
Marie Antoinette Simbra passed away on February 28, 2019 due to complications with pneumonia. She was 88 years old. Born December 9, 1930, Marie was third of nine children and was raised in San Francisco. She met her husband, Ben, on a blind date at Coit Tower; they were married for 57 years until his death in 2008. They loved music and swing dancing together. A military wife, Marie worked as a teacher’s aid in the Fremont School district while raising two children during Ben’s many deployments. Marie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was passionate about her creative hobbies which included quilting, knitting and scrap booking. She was generous and hospitable in spirit and loved gathering her loved ones together for large meals that her husband, Ben, would prepare. She is survived by her two children, Vickie and Ben, their spouses, Bob Meier and Tam Simbra, granddaughters, Rachael and Tanya, and her sisters, Rose Moyer and Patricia Diehl. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16 at Cedar’s Church in Newark, CA at 1pm. Luncheon hosted by Marie’s family will be served afterwards for those in attendance.
