Marie Bernice Johnson Ivica, 1918-2002.Marie was the third daughter of Christine Larsen Johnson of Denmark and Fred Ernest Johnson of Osakis, Minnesota. Marie was born in Alexandria, Minnesota, February 1, 1918. She passed away at 84 years of age on Monday, July 1, 2002, at 2:00 a.m. at San Ramon Hospital, San Ramon, California. Marie's four siblings include: Ellen Christine Johnson, San Jose, California; Shirley Johnson Patmont, Kailua, Hawaii; Fred Ernest Johnsen, Meadow Vista, California; Dr. Bernarr B. Johnson, Redstone, Colorado.A graduate of Berkeley schools, Marie became a licensed Cosmetologist, joining the family owned business of Joan Kristine Beauty Salons in Berkeley, California, in the 1930's Depression and WWII Days, and later pursuing her career in other salons in California and Arizona. In 1940, she married Frank J. Ivica, professional musician and teacher. Their four children are: Carole Marie Ivica Slater, Pleasanton, California; Francie Ivica Tomacci, Alamo, California; Frank J. Ivica, Jr., CPA, Castro Valley, California; Kathrine Ivica Johnston, Danville, California.Marie's seven grandchildren include: Christine Tomacci Legare, Michael Slater, Thomas Tomacci, Matthew Slater, Scott Serradell, Lisa Marie Serradell.Loved and admired for her gracious manner and beauty, Marie will be missed always by family and friends.As a Christian, Marie's hope was in her precious Lord.Family and friends may visit on Friday, July 5, 2002 from 5:30 to 8:30PM in the Reflection Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, July 6, 2002 also in the Reflection Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Hayward, CA 94544.
