Marian J. Bear's Obituary
Marian Janet was born on January 22, 1931 in Lamar, Colorado to parents Nina and Marvin Banta.She died from natural causes on January 20, 2019 in Fremont, California at the age of 87.Marian is preceded in death by her husband Donald Robert Bear, parents Nina and Marvin Banta, and brother and sister in law James and Bernie Banta. She leaves behind daughter Bonnie Bear, daughter and son in law Nancy and Mark Brown, son and daughter in law Donald James and Kathleen Bear and grandchildren Brian Brown, Hannah Bear and Donald Andrew Bear, and sister and brother in law Patricia and Jerry Grandon along with many nieces and nephews.The second of three children, Marian lived most of her life in the Bay Area, primarily in Hayward, California. She attended Valle Vista School, Hayward Union High School(Class of ’49), San Francisco State University and California State University Hayward, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in 1964.In 1951, she started working at the Oakland Recreational Department where she met and fell in love with Don. Six months later they married and a year later they had their first of three children Bonnie, followed by Nancy a year and a half later then Donnie five years after that. She loved being a mother and grandmother.Marian also loved teaching and felt it was her calling. She taught mostly at Grimmer Grammar School in the Fremont School District for over 40 years. She also had a deep faith in God and was a member and very involved at the Hayward First Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years.Marian was deeply loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in knowing that she is at home in heaven.A Memorial service will be held on Friday 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California.
