Maria Gladys Vivas' Obituary
Gladys Vivas , also known by her grandchildren as “Dandu”, 88, wife of the late Guillermo Enrique Vivas of Leon Nicaragua passed away on Monday the 3rd of February 2020 at her home in Union City, California.
Born August 18, 1931 in Leon, Nicaragua. She was the daughter of the late Humberto Lacayo and Julia Valladares Lacayo.
Maria Vivas attended her primary and secondary schooling in Leon, Nicaragua, then migrated to San Francisco, California. She worked for 15 years at Levi’s Strauss company as a Sewing Specialist, and later worked in the health care industry as a Care Taker. In her spare time, she devoted herself to serve at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in San Francisco, California.
She is survived by sons Eric and his wife of Pittsburg, Ca; Jimmy and his wife of Castro Valley, Ca; and daughters Betty of San Leandro, Ca; and Veronica of Union City, Ca; and daughters-in-law Susan and husband of San Lorenzo, Ca and Cynthia of Union City Ca; (7) Granddaughters: Linda Marie and her husband of San Lorenzo, Ca; Jasmine and her husband of Pittsburg, Ca; Maria of San Francisco, Ca; Vanessa and her husband of Hercules, Ca; Julia of San Leandro, Ca; Yvette of Union City, Ca; Tatiana of Union City, Ca; (8) Grandsons: Joseph and his wife of San Francisco, Ca; Joshua and David of Castro Valley, Ca; William of Union City, Ca; Raymond and his wife of San Lorenzo, Ca; Daniel of Elk Grove, Ca; Rafael Jr. and his wife of Modesto, Ca; Mark and his wife of San Francisco, Ca; (9) great-granddaughters: Abigail of San Bruno, Ca; Amia of San Bruno, Ca; Lorisa of San Leandro, Ca; Melissa and Lola of San Lorenzo, Ca; Aurora and Trinity of Modesto, Ca; Gianna of Union City, Ca; Johana of San Lorenzo, Ca; (8) great-grandsons: Rafael III, Gabriel, and Junior of Modesto, Ca; Leo Jr. of San Lorenzo, Ca; Angel Jr. of San Leandro; Ca; Matayo of San Lorenzo, Ca; Jonathan of Union City, Ca; Kai of Hercules, Ca; (2) great-great-grandsons: Eduardo Jr and Santiago of San Leandro, Ca; and her sister Lydia of Baypoint, Ca.
In addition to her husband Guillermo, she was predeceased by her two sons; Rafael Sr. and Guillermo Jr.
Family will receive family and friends for a visitation from 5:00 to 9:00pm on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at the Chapel of the Chimes - Reflection Chapel, located at 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, Ca 94544. Funeral/Memorial Service will take place on Monday, February 17, 2020, at 10:00am to 12:00pm. A reception will take place immediately after the burial service.
