Maria Luisa Frias Loving mother and grandmotherMaria Luisa Frias passed away on August 15, 2016 in Walnut Creek, California due to cardiac-related complications. She was 89.Ms. Frias was born on March 7, 1927 in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to her parents Gabriel and Elvira Escobar. She attended university in her home country of Bolivia where her studies had an emphasis in international relations. Thereafter, Ms. Frias worked as a foreign service officer for Bolivia. She married Carlos Frias in 1956. Mr. and Ms. Frias had three children, Sylvia, Luis and Jaime. The Frias Family moved to San Francisco, California in 1969 where Ms. Frias was assigned to a post in the Bolivian Consulate after having served three years at the Bolivian Embassy in Lima, Peru. She went on to work for the City and County of San Francisco for more than 15 years until retiring in 1989. Ms. Frias was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her favorite hobbies were reading, gardening and handcrafts.Ms. Frias is survived by her daughter, Sylvia; son, Luis; son and daughter-in-law, Jaime and Elizabeth; and her two grandchildren, Anthony and Vanessa Carvajal.A memorial will take place on September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ms. Frias’ life.
