Mari Hatsuko Glasgow's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Mari Glasgow, 1929 – 2016Mari Hatsuko Glasgow died of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease which had ravaged her existence for some fifteen years. She was a very loving, caring person who always thought of others first. Mari was born in Osaka, Japan. She met her future husband right after World War II when he was stationed in Takamatsu, Japan. They were married in 1950 in Tokyo, Japan and she arrived in America in 1951. She first lived in Seattle WA before moving with her family successively to Monterey CA, Baltimore MD, Osaka and Tokyo, Japan, Honolulu HI, and Fort Meade MD before moving to Fremont CA where she had resided for fifty years.Mari was a consummate homemaker and hostess. Her culinary skills brought much satisfaction to her family and guests. She enjoyed making various craft items, collecting knickknacks, and Karaoke singing of, and listening to, Japanese ballads. She was an active member of Seicho-no-Ie Church in San Jose CA for fifteen years.Mari is survived by her loving husband, Dewitt; devoted children Mike of Sammamish WA and Carole Wiegand (Glenn) of Fremont CA, and grandchildren, Karen of Sammamish WA, Jason (Amanda) of Bellevue WA, and Jen Fowler (Joe) of Brentwood CA, and one great-grandchild Aubree Fowler. She was predeceased by a son Tom and a grandson Nick. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her.The extended family held a Celebration of Mari’s Life at home on April 27, 2016. There will be no public services or burial. Her cremains will stay with her husband until he joins her. Their final resting place will be at the Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward CA.
