Margarita M. Kopilow's Obituary
Maria Margarita Orantes-Kopilow May 8, 1915 – June 16, 2016Born in Sonsonate, El Salvador, Central America to loving parents, Clara Maria and Marcial Orantes. Margarita is survived by her daughter, Sonja Margarita Kopilow Radcliff and her two grandchildren, Jesse Mann and Neena Barreto. Margarita was blessed with four great grandchildren, Elisio, Antonio, Julia and Emilio.Margarita arrived in San Francisco in 1945 and was able to work along side her brother, Marcial At the Palace Hotel in San Francisco doing various jobs in the kitchen.In 1948, Margarita met her husband, Walter Kopilow who had arrived in San Francisco after spending nine years in Shanghai, China after having to leave Germany in 1939. Unfortunately, the marriage ended too soon when her beloved Walter died in 1950 and she was left with a one year old child.Margarita quickly found a job at Circus Food, Inc. where she proved to be very hard working and did any job that was given to the best of her ability until her retirement.In her later years, Margarita spent her time volunteering and being of service. She was also able to do some traveling and enjoyed keeping herself fit by joining senior fitness classes.When asked how will you remember Margarita, the unanimous response is her smile and her joyful spirit.Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30 at 10:30 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Newark, Ca
