Margaret Woodford's Obituary
Margaret Louise WoodfordPassed away on April 13, 2017 surrounded by family at home.Born June 15, 1935 in Glena, Kansas to Robert Lester “Pete” Judd and Vivian Gladys “Dimple” Carter. She spent her early childhood moving between Kansas and Oklahoma where her father mined. In 1941 a labor dispute at the lead mine in Picher, Oklahoma forced the family west, settling in the Mojave Desert near Lancaster, CA. After graduation from Antelope Valley High she was a federal employee at Edwards Air Force Base, married and planted roots in Boron, CA with her family and 5 children.Yet another labor dispute at the Borax mine in 1968 helped Margaret make the decision to relocate, residing in Union City, CA. She worked a few jobs, while attending Armstrong Business College in Berkeley, Golden Gate College San Francisco, and Cal State University Hayward until she was successful in continuing her civil service as a Federal employee. She worked at Alameda Naval Air Station, retiring as comptroller in 1995.Margaret is survived by her 4 sons, Dale Kissinger, Ron Kissinger, Robert Kissinger, Gary Young, sisters Barbara Henderson, Vivian Patterson, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her brother Robert L. Judd III, husband Nelson Woodford, and her daughter Beverly Young.Visitation is Monday, April 24, 2017 between 5-9 pm at Chapel of the Chimes at 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA, with funeral services on Tuesday April 25 at 10:00.The family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care given by Dianne Moore.
