Margaret Stepp's Obituary
Margaret Lucille Werner Stepp passed away July 28, 2018 after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born in Bowden, ND the sixth of seven children to John and Lucy Werner. She married George Raymond Stepp in 1945 and they were married for 67 years up until he passed in 2013. They have two sons Larry (Paula) and Garry (deceased). Their posterity consists of 11 grandchildren: Gilie (Shawn) Sandra, Cindy (John), Tami(Jeff) John (Yuridia), Isaac, Chad, Tracey, Paige (Becca) Logan (Corrine) and Preston. She and Ray also have 20 great -grandchildren. She and George “Ray” met while both worked at the Naval Base in Alameda during WWII and raised their boys in Oakland and San Leandro prior to moving to Modesto, Knights Landing, Mtn Ranch and San Andreas, CA. After Ray passed, Peggy moved back to the Bay Area in Union City at the Masonic Home where she has resided these past two years. Margaret loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was best known for her contagious laugh, sense of humor, hard work and no nonsense approach to life. She blessed the lives of many as a foster mom to many children for 10 years. Peggy also worked for Owens Glass Company in San Leandro for 15 years. Once they moved to Modesto they bought a ten acre orchard/farm which consumed most of their time. Peggy is dearly loved by her family and the rich legacy of faith, laughter, love, self-reliance and hard work. She will be missed very much! A heartfelt thanks to the Masonic Home for their genuine love and care for her these past two years. She absolutely loved being there in her “cruise ship without water.” Services will be held Thursday August 2, 2018 at 2pm at the Masonic Home chapel in Union City, California.
