Margaret M Polito's Obituary
Margaret “Peggy” Polito, 92, of Hayward, CA passed away peacefully of natural causes at home on November 9th, 2023. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Margaret was born in Virginia and later moved to Florida where she attended Ponce de Leon High School in Coral Gables Florida.
Margaret and her husband met one day by chance at a bus station. They later got married, moved to Miami, FL in 1951, and had six children. After her children graduated high school, Margaret went back to school to finish a nursing degree at Miami Dade Junior College.
Margaret was a dedicated nurse for over 30 years and an enthusiastic entrepreneur and co-owner along with her husband, Louis, of a Himalayan cat cattery, Lumarpo, for which she was an active member in the show cat circuit for many years. Her cats were very dear to her and she continued to care for many cats throughout her life.
Margaret was a vibrant and energetic woman and had a passion for fashion, history (especially Egyptian history), and literature. After initially retiring in 1993 Margaret enjoyed her retirement in Mexico City with her husband, Louis, and son, James. There she relished daily in the history and culture before relocating to California.
Margaret got to fulfill one of her lifelong dreams of visiting Egypt on a trip she took with her daughter, Peggy, where she got to see the pyramids, ride in a hot air balloon, and ride on a camel.
Margaret was an avid reader, she loved to keep her mind sharp, and she always had an endless supply of interesting stories to share.
Margaret is survived by her son Anthony Polito (wife Winah Polito), daughter Margaret “Peggy” Rosier (husband John Rosier), and son James Polito, 10 grandchildren: Annette, Christina, Mary, John, Gregory, Rolando, Tatiana, Anthony, Paymon, and Remi, and 8 great grandchildren: Jaice, Jianna, Jordana, James, Tommy, Eva, Ella, and Isabella.
Margaret was preceded in death by her spouse Louis “Papa Louie” Polito, her son Louis Polito, daughter Maria Gonzalez, and daughter Yolanda Mora.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
