Marcia Olivia Patterson's Obituary
Marcia Olivia Patterson was born in Guyana, South America on March 3, 1966 to Pat and Eulah Britton. She confessed Christ at age 12 and united with St. Paul Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she was baptized.She attended P.S. 233, Brooklyn, NY; Webber Junior High, Saginaw, MI; Saginaw High School, Saginaw, MI; and earned her B.S. in Medical Technology at Norfolk State University. She worked as an executive administrator for Cantor in New York and Mercedes Corp. in California.She met and married Chris Patterson in New York on August 14, 1999. From this union was born Zoe Olivia Patterson. Throughout her life, Marcia was a shining star who always attracted everyone to her. Marcia was a social butterfly who loved to fill her house with friends for parties which she would spend all day planning and preparing special meals, and baking cakes and cookies, for everyone to enjoy. It was something that gave her great satisfaction. She also enjoyed tutoring and helping others in various academic subjects. One of her favorite pass times was perusing the malls, shopping for herself and others. She had a very calm and serene presence about her. She was loved by all those who came into her life. She was a blessing to her family and she loved each of them dearly, spending hours on three way calls with her two sisters daily.Her smile will always be captivated and engraved in our hearts. She was generous and always there with a helping hand, or words of encouragement. She was a cheerleader at a young age, from her early days in New York, to Junior High and High School in Michigan, and eventually at Norfolk State University. She also played tennis and ran track and field competitively. She was an active member of Pilgrim Baptist Church and the school PTA. Marcia was a doting and loving wife and mother to her husband Chris and her daughter Zoe. Marcia leaves behind to mourn her passing Chris Patterson (husband), Zoe Patterson (daughter), Pat & Eulah Britton (parents), Eric, Charles, Pat Leslie Britton (brothers), Karen Britton, Pat Allison Britton-Hinds, Deonne Britton-Smithers (sisters), Victor & Blossom Patterson (parents-in-law), Maxine Capek (sister-in-law), Dale and Sean Patterson, Kenneth Smithers, Andre Hinds (brothers in law), Germain Hodge “Aunt J” (aunt), Oswald Herbert, Charles Britton Jr., Pat Britton III, Brently Britton (nephews), Tiffany Britton, Amrita & Anisa Britton, Landa McDonald (nieces), along with other relatives and friends who loved her.She loved the Lord. She was a great Prayer Warrior. She is a sweet spirit who we all will surely miss.
