Manuel R. Ponce's Obituary
Manuel R. Ponce was a decorated war hero who served his country during the Vietnam War as a 238 Army Gunrunner. He loved his family, playing golf and riding his Harley. Manuel passed away at the age of 67 at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California.Born in Oakland, California to Betty Rabello Ponce and Manuel Ponce. He grew up in Union City, California, attended James Logan High School and played soccer at Ohlone College before getting drafted to war. He returned a highly decorated solider recieving at least six honers including the Purple Heart, Silver star, Air Metal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Later in life Manuel cherished his time as a grandfather and would carefully get down on the floor to entertain them. He never stopped being a provider and Patriarch to his girls. Those fortunate to spend time with Manny knew he was always sharing stories, his truth and having a good time.Manuel is survived and loved by his wife of 40 years this March, Elizabeth Ponce from Newman, California. His daughter Katrina Poukner and Husband Todd Poukner and two children. His daughter Julie Ponce Collins and Fiancé Jesse Minard and three children.
